Cutters
still 100%
Money. The Cutters
yesterday continued their new uniform success story, beating the P
Funk Allstars despite the absence of stars Wong and Ben. The Cutters
even overcame a power blackout and endured some P Funk midnight
basketball as the 17-3 foul count attests. In a tight match from
start to finish, a sound DC team performance with critical
contributions from all saw the Cutters eventually take the game
36-33.
Standout
performances came from ‘Triple Threat’ Kep, who had a career-night
posting 13 points and three timely triples, and also from Yochem
‘the Incredible’ who had a solid game racking up 10 points, numerous
rebounds and assists. They shared the MVP award, while some key work
from Clydesdale Tim in the paint, from the Long Arm of the Law (No.
1 Shot-blocker in the league) Scott de Bruyn, and from D-Dayve, who
returned this week refreshed and ready to take life head-on. The
Cutters favourite son, Michael Kroon, also made his much-anticipated
return for more than six months to make a healthy contribution of 8
points. Tim scored 4 points and Dave 2.
It was the
transcendental Yochem once again, who provided much of the game’s
highlights, with the play of the game a toss-up between his freakish
sky-mining reverse flip shot and his ¾ court needle-threading bullet
dime-drop to the streaking Kep.
There will be no
games this Easter long-weekend. Please have a safe and enjoyable
holiday, and from all here at the Cutters, happy Easter!
