DIAMOND CUTTERS 50, 69ers 36
The Cutters favourite son last night made a cameo return to the
line-up, replacing the injured Dave and in the process setting the
Cutters up for their momentous first win of the season. The seasoned
marksman was on fire early, setting the pace with his accurate
shooting and strong drives, finishing with 11 points. The Cutters’
win over archrivals’ the 69ers was due to strong performances from
the whole team, working together as one unit. Once again an
outstanding performance by ‘Bubba’ Ben secured the win, in his usual
style. Wong and ‘Nugget’ Kep also stood out for the Cutters, with 12
and 6 points respectively. ‘The Flash’ Yochem had a poor performance
for 6, the lambasted Scott remained steady scoring 4, whilst Tim,
not yet back at full-fitness, failed to score.
Kepalotta was also on the receiving end of an unsportsmanlike
foul, something usually only reserved for Kep’s opponents, not the
man himself. Lucky Kroonicus was there to separate the hate.
The fans were an aide in the Cutter’s monkey-removing win, with
their own coach Stevo Wootton making a very rare appearance. The
Cutters received an award pre-game as a token of appreciation from
MARS management, for their efforts in lifting MARS’ image and
profile over the last two seasons.
It remains to be seen if Kepler will suit up next week, given
himself being reprimanded by the Cutters, facing disciplinary action
following his letting down of the legion of fans through his failure
to meet contractual obligations.
Following the huge success of the Cutters first merchandise
foray, the limited edition T-shirts will go in print today, and
should be ready for sale soon. Not all are pre-sold, but those still
willing to buy this piece of history must be quick. Forward orders
to the address below. Dynamic Duo: Kep & Johan
