Cutters revel in
birthday bash
03/06/02
Happy
Birthday to Jason and Kepler! The two players who share
their birthday today, were given an early birthday present in a
great victory that displayed all the Cutters strengths,
self-confidence and determination to win.
The diamond
cutters last night faced their greatest challenge yet this season to
their unbeaten crown. Stojkavic, who last time these two teams
faced, the Cutters beat them into submission, this time due to two
rather large midseason acquisitions, were up all game except when it
counted - at the end.
How many is that
without loss? Who knows - we've lost count.
The Cutters had
let Stojkavic play their own game, until the business
end of the
game, when the Cutters clamped down on defense with a full-court
press. It was up to Ben 'the unstoppable' and Wong 'the unropable'
then, to take the win for the Cutters.
Both were solid
with 11 points each in the victory, Wong claiming MVP this time with
his strong D and clutch shots. Scott 'golden tonsils' and Johan
'honey nougat' had four each, Dave 'the eel' (you may have seen him
in the Sydney Olympics) had two, while Kep 'kelvinator' and Tim 'the
alternative' failed to score.
Many Cutters
players are in real need of a lift in performance to support the
'Ben and Wong Show'.
The most exciting
team in the league did not fail to disappoint, with some marvellous
plays by Ben, Jason, Dave (his second alley-oop in consecutive
games) and Johan.
In what has been
yet another disappointing NBA season (the 3rd in a row), the Cutters
still remain, shining their light over MARS, and looking every bit
champions.
