Unbeaten? You damn right! 6/07/02
The Reggies (Cutters arch-rivals formerly known as the 69ers)
acknowledged the Cutters 6 game winning streak, and tried to take
their game to ‘em. Uh-oh. That’s where they went wrong. The Cutters
of this season ain’t the same team as last.
With Ben leading the charge, the Cutters kept their loss column
unmarked as the Reggies regretted even coming out to play.
The Cutters staged a great comeback to not lose the game, as a
strong lead slowly decreased, and with the Cutters down three with a
minute on the clock, they needed a three. "But who will take the
shot?" The answer – Ben "the Answer" Ferguson, who coolly knocked
down the triple to tie the game. However, a late foul
gave him the opportunity to put the game away, but both free throws
hit iron and bounced, leaving the score undecided.
Ben top-scored again, this time counting 23 big ‘uns, while
Scott, ‘the Big Fundamental’, was impressive in his return, banking
8. ‘The D.A.’ Levene made three points look awkward, Yo-Hannibal was
no cannibal as he feebled two, and K-Epp was missing the beat but
croaked two also. ‘Da Big Bungle’ Tim, according to one critic,
played his worst game yet, ever, in his 21 years on this planet,
perhaps a good topic for the up-and-coming forum on the team’s
ever-changing always-exciting web site. It was a high turnover game,
resulting in a unanimous agreement on perhaps a short training
session, or even think-about-training-in-your-own-time session some
time soon.
Scott was issued a team-imposed fine and threatened of the
possibility of further action for his continuance with the "t-shirt
under jersey thing", while other players were handed warnings for
failing to adopt any hint of style. Please, as the discerning public
and avid fans, forward your style tips to the Diamond Cutters to
give certain players some inspiration.
Addressing a more serious point, attendances have been falling
slightly of late. This is baffling to DC, who is enjoying a
record-breaking season and seem certain to take the flag. Please
support your Cutters by coming along, having a fun time admiring (or
laughing at) your favourite Cutter, as they would love your
continued support. The league’s glamour team this week had a film
crew taping, with even the umpires calling for "more!"
We hope to see you next week, as the Cutters take on the Stags at
8:15pm.
