Five Man
Cutters Call Wog-Boys' Bluff
Devastating news rocked the
Cutters community mid-week as it was learned that All-Star swingman
Jason Wong required a knee reconstruction after last week's clash
with Nolan Vehola, seeing him on the Cutters injured list
indefinitely. Doctors reports indicated a torn ACL was the
primary cause for concern. To make matters worse Yochem had a mild
sprained ankle from a weekend practice session, and was visibly
limping.
With big man Scotty Debruyn
still on leave in Europe, the Cutters only had five players come
game time to face league newcomers the Casual Js, and things didn't
look good.
They needn't have worried
though. Despite the imposing first impressions of the tall, round,
mediterranean Casual J's, it turned out the only ones actually
taking casual Js on the night were Ben and Johan. The Casual Js
could possibly consider other team names such as the "Foul Mouths",
the "Short Shorts" or the "No Respects".
Despite some downright
impossible one-in-a-million blind hurls at the basket finding their
target by some Casual Js, it became clear that they would have their
work cut out trying to stop a hot shooting Ben. They also made the
mistake of trash-talking the Benster, who took this as an invitation
to burn the Js to the tune of 23 points, taking the MVP.
Also scorching hot was Yochem
for 8, including a big three. If the last two games are any
indication, a fully fit Yoch could lead this team to another crown
this season. Tim was hu-uge on the boards for his 7, Kep had 4 and
Dave 1.
Play of the game came from
Benny as he stutter-stepped his Casual Js opponent to the basket on
a fast break, laying it in with ease, and commenting to his shaken
student "that was a nice little dance you did".
J-Wo, the Cutters are behind
you buddy!
