Scotty - Cutters Comeback
Having had their winning streak of
nearly a year (possibly some 20 - 30 games) snapped last week, the
Cutters were keener than............. someone who is very keen
indeed to get the job done against the vintage Tranmeres.
Keenest of all was big Scotty DeBruyn,
who played Tim Duncan, Steve Kerr and John Stockton all in one for
the Cutters. Scotty dropped a Career 23 points on the old-skoolers
Tranmere, including several big threes, numerous put-backs and
generally unstoppable play. Scotty takes a well earned MVP for
leading his Cutters out of what might have been a close game.
The rest of the Cutters were happy to
fall into a supporting role for the big man, as evidenced by the
stats. Ben had a hard-fought 13, the ball refusing to drop in
the first half. Kep was the only other scorer with 2. Tim,
Yoch and Dave put in some solid game, delivering solid O
and D to wear down the Trans. When asked how he adjusted to
playing second-fiddle to Scotty for the game, Ben replied:
"Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got, I'm still Benny from
the Block, used to have a little now I have a lot, but I know where
I came from".
Plays of the game had to come from
the stealthy Johan, who threw a gor-geois alley-oop pass
to Scotty in traffic, and later in the game blocked the
snot out of Tranmeres big man, "Only Hope". The lanky old-skooler
went red as a beet with fury, but had no reply for this very public
humiliation.
The Cutters were also blessed with a
season-record crowd to cheer them on, possibly the key to the win.
The Cutters thank you all for your support!!
